Este Trabajo Fin de Grado (TFG) analiza comparativamente herramientas de automatización de procesos de negocio (BPA) y cargas de trabajo (WLA), con un enfoque en BMC Control-M, para optimizar la gestión de operaciones de TI en entornos empresariales. Su finalidad es proporcionar un marco objetivo para seleccionar herramientas según necesidades organizativas, abordando la creciente complejidad de procesos digitales. En un contexto de transformación digital, donde la eficiencia operativa y el cumplimiento normativo son críticos, se evalúan cinco soluciones líderes (BMC Control-M, IBM Workload Scheduler, Cisco Tidal, CA Automic/AutoSys, Apache Airflow) mediante un enfoque híbrido comparativo-experimental. La metodología incluye un marco de evaluación basado en criterios técnicos (50%), funcionales (30%) y estratégicos (20%), complementado por un caso práctico con Control-M, implementando flujos de trabajo representativos. Los resultados destacan la robustez de Control-M en orquestación, integración multicloud y gestión de errores, aunque con limitaciones en entornos nativos de datos frente a Airflow. Las conclusiones subrayan la importancia de alinear la selección de herramientas con objetivos estratégicos, confirmando la aplicabilidad del marco propuesto y la eficacia de Control-M en entornos complejos, con impactos positivos en sostenibilidad, ética y diversidad.
This Final Degree Project (TFG) conducts a comparative analysis of Business Process Automation (BPA) and Workload Automation (WLA) tools, focusing on BMC Control-M, to optimize IT operations management in enterprise settings. Its purpose is to provide an objective framework for tool selection based on organizational needs, addressing the increasing complexity of digital processes. Within the context of digital transformation, where operational efficiency and regulatory compliance are critical, five leading solutions (BMC Control-M, IBM Workload Scheduler, Cisco Tidal, CA Automic/AutoSys, Apache Airflow) are evaluated using a hybrid comparative-experimental approach. The methodology includes an evaluation framework based on technical (50%), functional (30%), and strategic (20%) criteria, complemented by a practical case study with Control-M, implementing representative workflows. Results highlight Control-M’s robustness in orchestration, multicloud integration, and error management, though it shows limitations in data-native environments compared to Airflow. The conclusions emphasize aligning tool selection with strategic goals, confirming the proposed framework’s applicability and Control-M’s effectiveness in complex environments, with positive impacts on sustainability, ethics, and diversity.
