Abstract

La Patum is a traditional and popular festivity held in Berga, which can be considered as the main identify symbol of the Berguedà region, attracting thousands of people year after year. The objective of this project is to create a videogame based on la Patum, which aims to serve as a cultural transmission tool through gameplay mechanics that are appealing to users. It is a 2D platformer game with action elements, incorporating rythm-based mechanics to provide a distinctive touch compared to existing competitors. La Patum gives the game both live and a unique cultural identity rooted in its historical context. To achieve the project’s objectives, the Lean Agile methodology will be followed, carrying out small tasks than can be quickly reviewed. This approach allows for rapid incorporation of lessons learned and helps to avoid major changes at later stages of development, offering an alternative to traditional workflows in response to the high failures rates in the industry. The videogame has been developed using Godot Engine 4.3. Community-provided resources have been used for the level design, and custom designs have been created for the characters. In conclusion, the project turned out to be more demanding than initially anticipated, as the game development process proved to be more complex than expected. However, the result is satisfactory, and the learning objectives defined at the outset have been met. The use of Lean Agile methodology has been appropriate, despite some difficulties encountered towards the end of the semester.
