Tinta. ¿Tinta? ¡Tinta!

Abstract

This FYP aims to develop a role-playing game (RPG) with narrative adventure set in a parallel world inhabited by both extinct and mythical creatures covered in ink. This ink will serve as a vital resource for our protagonists as well as the source of the evils plaguing this kingdom, whose inhabitants are paralyzed or corrupted and turned into aggressive creatures due to a sudden and unprecedented downpour of ink three years prior to our heroes' arrival. Through humour, storytelling, and achievement systems, the game seeks to raise environmental awareness while entertaining players with its mechanics, puzzles, and narrative. Throughout the adventure, players will unlock runes, areas, companions, and upgrades to face the contaminated enemies, using ink as a resource to create spells that allow them to purify rather than harm anyone. The methodology employed includes iterative game design, with ongoing testing to improve gameplay and narrative, utilizing Unity as the main engine and graphic design and 3D design programs such as Maya, Blender, or Photoshop. The final prototype aims to include the unlocking of the first five runes, encompassing five main quests along with several side quests distributed across different areas, thereby purifying at least one of the villages affected by the ink rain and allowing exploration of the capabilities of five different runes.
