Abstract

La pèrdua de protagonisme del treball com a eix vertebrador de les persones en les societats postindustrials i la comercialització de la vida social en quant consum d'estils de vida en les societats occidentals, ens fa dirigir la mirada cap a les pràctiques de consum i el seu paper com a configuradores de les identitats en les nostres societats. A partir d'un estudi etnogràfic portat a terme en el primer semestre de 2003 a locals de connexió a Internet de quatre districtes de la ciutat de Barcelona, el nostre treball s'interroga sobre les possibilitats de producció cultural associades a les pràctiques de consum de les tecnologies de la informació i la comunicació (TIC) en adolescents als espais de lleure. Els resultats d'una primera fase de l'estudi són força suggeridors sobre el paper que adults pares o educadors exercim en l'estigmatització dels joves com a població en risc o bé perillosa. Crida especialment l'atenció el paper de les noves tecnologies en els processos d'interacció i relació que s'hi produeixen, que trenquen la imatge de l'adolescent aïllat i addicte a què sovint es refereix la literatura i els mitjans de comunicació i ens mostren, en canvi, com els adolescents practiquen noves maneres de construir una cultura digital: una trobada entorn de les TIC.
