This final degree project includes a study on the prohibition of the Catalan language during Francoism and whether, because of this historical fact, there has been a loss of legal terminology in Catalan. First, research has been carried out on how the Catalan language was affected during Francoism. Next, a study was made of the current situation of the Catalan language in the field of legal translation. Next, a search has been made for the current situation of the Catalan language in the field of legal translation. This was followed by a search for four organic laws that were drafted after Francoism, to see whether legal terminology in Catalan has increased as a result of the prohibition of the language during Francoism. Four organic laws have been chosen to focus on a single branch of law: constitutional law. This branch of law has been chosen because it has been seen that the laws could be a good example to see if the legal terminology has changed or not, since many have been drafted after the end of Francoism. In order to obtain a wide range of terminology, organic laws dealing with a great variety of subjects have been chosen. Once the different laws had been obtained, the terminology used in each of them have been then analysed in order to compile a Catalan-English translation glossary of all the terminology searched for. Finally, an analysis of the glossary was carried out to see whether there really is a lack of legal terminology of Catalan
