Abstract

Creativity and imagination are concepts that we often assign to people with artistic interests, and specifically to children. It's true that there're people who develop more artistic tastes and hobbies than others, I suppose due to factors such as personality and tastes, environment, society, etc. And beings as innocent and curious as children, who are discovering the world around them, tend to explore and use these features more than adults. From a very young age I've been part of this group of people with artistic interests and I've always been a very creative person. My mother always encouraged me to explore these interests, without that push I might not be here right now. I had never given importance to this fact because I'd assumed that each person was the way he was and that there must be people in the world with very different interests. I still hold this idea, but with time and experiences, I've understood that someone with scientific interests can also be a very creative person. I believe that creativity and imagination don't have to be directly and exclusively related to art. These concepts accompany us and can be very useful during any moment of our lives. So, if we consider children as an infinite source of imagination and creativity, at what point does it disappear? It's natural for them to discover and choose what they like as they grow, but from that point on, why do some kids pretty much lose all that creativity?
