Abstract

The Internet is used daily nowadays to perform any task, for instance to check your email or to make a money transfer. Most services use names in order to be identified: the so-called Internet domains. These domains have to turn into numbers to be able to be used, an IP address. This translated system is called DNS. Currently, searches on DNS domains are performed as a clear text, which means lack of privacy so, as a result, anyone interested can use them. The purpose of this project is to analyse the security of the DNS system and suggest a technological solution to an existing security or privacy problem The result is an investigation about the security and the privacy of the DNS protocol and a proposal for a safe UDP security protocol without negotiation in the transport layer.
