Abstract

Rozdział książki: M. Przybylski, Sporty jeździeckie w mediach II RP, w: Sport w mediach, red. Marta Jarosz, Piotr Drzewiecki, Paweł Płatek, Warszawa 2013. Sporty jeździeckie odgrywały w II Rzeczypospolitej poważną rolę. Uznawane była za sport prestiżowy. Znaczącą część uprawiających ten sport stanowili zawodowi wojskowi. Niewątpliwy wpływ miało na to duże nasycenie oddziałami konnymi ówczesnej armii, nadto od oficerów wymagano by uprawiali jedną z dyscyplin sportowych a jazda konna i szermierka były szczególnie popularne. Zawody jeździeckie relacjonowane były przez media a zwycięzcy stawali się dla bohaterami. Abstract: Horse riding played significant role in the Second Polish Republic. They were considered as prestigious. Much of practicing these sports were professional soldiers. Undoubted influence on that situation had the saturation in horse units in their army, moreover – officers were required to practice any sport discipline, where horse riding and fencing were the most popular. Horse riding competitions were reported by the media and winners became heroes.
