Oscilador controlado para aplicaciones de radar

Abstract

En este trabajo se diseña un oscilador LC controlado por voltaje, dotado con un sistema de control automático de ganancia. Este oscilador se basa en la topología de par cruzado con transistores de unión bipolar (BJT). Se incluye un esquema de sintonización con varactores y fuente dual de forma que se maximice el rango del capacitor variable. Se analiza el rendimiento entre el factor de calidad de varactores en paralelo y rango de sintonización, y se comprueba la estabilidad del sistema al incluir el AGC. Adicionalmente, el ruido de fase (PN) del LC-VCO es estimado usando el modelo de Leeson. El oscilador muestra un rango de sintonización desde 4.3MHz a 6MHz (alrededor de 330,000 ppm) y un ruido de fase estimado de -117.2dBc/Hz@ 1kHz. El sistema muestra una mejora de aproximadamente 6dB en comparación con el mismo VCO sin control de ganancia. Comparando con radares comerciales que operan en la misma banda, este sistema muestra que se puede tener un alta pureza espectral con osciladores LC y aumentar al doble el rango de sintonización. El sistema consume 47mW de potencia con una alimentación de 3V.
