Abstract

The present project aims to determine a cost-efficient way to carry out a coalition under joint replenishment collaborative schemes using a simulation model (CJRP; Otero, Amaya, & Yie-Pinedo, 2017) , so that the companies in it can coordinate and make decisions together. The assumptions considered in this model are: finite lead times, finite capacity and stochastic demand. Simulated parameters were assumed for the simulation model. To do so, this model was devised to recreate joint replenishment collaborative operations and allow for the testing of a cost-efficient inventory policy to take advantage of economies of scale. A supply chain was reproduced considering Suppliers, Logistic Operator (3PL), Distribution Center (CD) and Points of Sale (PV) echelons. In addition, 2 strategies were designed: one where the collaborative strategy was executed by the points of sale, which is strategy 1; a second strategy where the 3PL assumes the role of both executor and coordinator of the operation. The decision variables were the total cost and the level of service. To obtain the initial parameters, the algorithm of Otero and Amaya S-CJRP was run, resulting in the replenishment time (T) and the number periods (K). It was shown that when increasing the number of players participating in the coalition, the total cost decreases and the level of service increases under the proposed schemes. As the time interval between orders (T) decreases, the maximum inventory level(S) also decreases due to the greater number of orders in the year of the interval risk (Lt + T), decreasing which reduces inventory management costs.
