ResumenEste artículo demuestra, en su primera parte, que política social y política económica no son dos términos, sino uno solo ya que toda política económica tiene implicaciones sociales y viceversa. Para ello, establece dos postulados: uno, las categorías económicas básicas tienen implicaciones éticas; y dos, la política económica es política social. En la segunda parte, analiza los indicadores sociales y las característica que debe poseer un buen indicador: expresar un concepto, poseer holismo local, ser sencillo.
