Optimización energética de un secador radial de yuca

Abstract

Con el fin de mejorar la eficiencia energética de un secador de yuca radial, se han llevado a cabo una serie de experimentos para determinar el consumo de energía eléctrica por unidad de masa de agua removida. En estos experimentos se han registrado los datos de temperatura de las paredes laterales y superior del secador, a la vez que la temperatura del medio ambiente. Se realizaron cálculos teóricos para determinar la transferencia de calor por convección y se compararon con datos experimentales, con el fin de determinar el radio crítico de aislante. Una vez realizadas las modificaciones se registró nuevamente el consumo energético, y se encontró una disminución del 46 %. El proceso de medición de consumo de energía se llevó a cabo manteniendo constantes la temperatura de secado, la velocidad de flujo del aíre, el tiempo de secado, la masa que se iba a secar, y el tamaño y forma de los trozos de yuca.
