Since XVIII century, garden is the place of both the know-how and the knowledge accomplished by experimental botanic. Starting from this point a definition will be advanced of what a technical environment is: an environment of culture made of norms and laws. But this technical environment should be distinguished from the natural environment. This one refers to an environment occupied by wild species. The point is, therefore, to determine the nature of the relationship between technical and natural environment. Linnaeus used to assign the products of culture a positive value. Rousseau goes the opposite way. He assigns nature a positive value. Linnaeus valuates the garden, he stands for the culture. Rousseau devaluates the garden, he stands for nature. The debate about modified organisms may begin.

Desde el siglo XVIII, el jardín es el lugar del saber-hacer y de los conocimientos adquiridos por la botánica experimental.
