Infecciones en la unidad de cuidados intensivos.

Abstract

El cuidado de pacientes críticamente enfermos con tecnología altamente especializada es un componente de la medicina moderna. Los procedimientos invasivos, diagnósticos y terapéuticos son esenciales para el manejo de pacientes críticos. Sin embargo, estos medios de apoyo agraden los mecanismos normales de defensa del huésped. La mortalidad en la UCI puede superar el 25%; más de un tercio de los pacientes desarrollan complicaciones, lo cual aumenta la mortalidad a un 40%. Las infecciones son unas de las complicaciones más frecuentes
