El docente como motivador. Percepciones de los estudiantes de la Facultad Ciencias de la Salud de la Universidad del Tolima (Colombia)

Abstract

Objetivo: Identificar las percepciones que tienen los estudiantes de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud de la Universidad del Tolima en torno al desempeño docente como motivador. Materiales y métodos: Se realizó una investigación con enfoque fenomenológico, durante el periodo académico B 2009. En cuya muestra participaron de forma voluntaria (luego de conocer la naturaleza y propósitos del estudio) tres estudiantes con alto rendimiento académico y tres estudiantes con bajo rendimiento académico. A estos participantes se les aplicó una entrevista a profundidad en forma individual. Resultados: Se encontraron dos categorías centrales que fueron codificadas como: "Acción docente motivadora" y "Acción docente desmotivadora". En cada una de ellas se incluyeron unas subcategorías, entre las que se destacan: "Un docente motivador es el que logra hacer parte de nuestras vidas" y "el que no se interesa por los estudiantes". Conclusión: Los estudiantes reconocen que el ejercicio docente tiene implícitas actitudes que motivan o desmotivan, lo cual se refleja en el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes. Esta reflexión induce a los colectivos docentes a mejorar las estrategias metodológicas y actitudes que adoptan los profesores en los encuentros con los estudiantes.
