Abstract

O presente trabalho foi realizado na Estação Experimental de Santander de Quilichao, do Centro Internacional de Agricultura Tropical (CIAT - Colômbia). O objetivo foi avaliar a composição botânica da forragem disponível e da forragem selecionada por bovinos em pastejo sequencial por 3 grupos de bovinos, em dois tipos de pasto:Andropogon gayanus + Centrosema macrocarpum e A. gayanus + Desmodium ova/ifolium. A composição botânica da forragem selecionada foi avaliada por duas técnicas: a) fístula de esôfago (extrusa) e, b) variação isotópica natural do carbono (relação 12C/13C) nas fezes. Os resultados mostraram que: 1) o pastejo sequencial influiu na seletividade da forragem disponível nos pastos consorciados: (grupo A - 14,7 e 69,5; grupo - 13,7 e 63,7; grupo C - 12,9% P.B. e 58,2% D.I.V.M.S. da extrusa), 2) os valores de proteína bruta e digestibilidade “in vitro†dos componentes da forragem disponível (gramínea, leguminosa e a mescla) e da forragem selecionada (extrusa) dos pastos de A. gayanus consorciado com Centrosema macrocarpum foram superiores (P < 0,01) ao dos pastos de A. gayanus + Desmodium ovalifolium; 3) a C. macrocarpum participou da dieta dos bovinos em percentagem mais elevada do que o D. ovalifolium, pelos dados obtidos nas duas técnicas de avaliação.
