En los últimos tiempos la sociedad ha sido víctima de una de las peores lacras que existen: el terrorismo, que es una sucesión de actos de violencia ejecutados para infundir terror en la población y forzar decisiones políticas o comportamientos que de otra forma no se producirían. El terrorismo ha existido desde el principio de la historia de la humanidad, aunque sí es cierto que se ha incrementado peligrosamente en los últimos tiempos. El terrorismo ha causado enormes daños en el turismo, entendido como el desplazamiento temporal de personas de un lugar a otro distinto de su lugar habitual de procedencia, por un período consecutivo, inferior a un año y superior a 24 horas, con fines de ocio, por negocios y otros motivos. Al producirse los ataques terroristas o al estar un país influido por algún tipo de conflicto, el turismo de todo el país puede verse afectado, ya que no es un servicio de primera necesidad. El proyecto que presentamos trata de abordar la repercusión que tienen los actos terroristas sobre la industria turística, el turista en sí y cuáles han sido las medidas persuasivas que se han utilizado para que la industria recupere su estabilización. Explicaremos los distintos ataques terroristas sucedidos en los siglos XX y XXI hasta el día de hoy. Además, estudiaremos el caso del atentado del 11 de septiembre de 2001 en E.E.U.U., cuya repercusión socioeconómica y sus consecuencias han sido devastadoras.

In recent times, society has been the victim of one of the worst scourges in existence: terrorism, which is a succession of acts of violence carried out to instil terror in the population and force political decisions or behaviour that would not otherwise occur. Terrorism has existed since the beginning of human history, although it has increased dangerously in recent times. Terrorism has caused enormous damage to tourism, understood as the temporary movement of people from one place to another different than their usual place of origin for a consecutive period of less than one year and more than 24 hours, for leisure, business and other reasons. When terrorist attacks occur or when a country is influenced by some kind of conflict, tourism throughout the country can be affected, as it is not a service of basic necessity. The project we are presenting here seeks to address the impact of terrorist acts on the tourism industry, and on the persuasive measures that have been used to bring the industry back to stability. We will explain the various terrorist attacks that have taken place in the 20th and 21st centuries to the present day. In addition, we will study the particular case of September 11, 2001, attack in the United States, whose socio-economic impact and consequences have been devastating.
