In this study we compare in a global way the history, the physical enviroment, the culture, and the tourist context of two tourist island as they are Lanzarote and Minorca with the objetive to analyze and to study its profitability in the tourist sector. Lanzarote has its strong point in the tourist number that it recieves and the total expense that they leave in the island, being this one higher than in Menorca. Meanwhile, the Menorca island has another less tourist characteristic it significantly from the Canary island as it is minor unemployment rate and its standard of living. With respect to the practical application and SWOT, small pieces of information have been gathered to obtain efficient and effective comparison between two very similar islands and at the same time very different ones, giving as a result that Lanzarote is the island with larger profitability from both.
En este estudio se compara de manera global la historia, el medio físico, la cultura y el contexto turístico de dos islas turísticas como son Lanzarote y Menorca con el objetivo de analizar y estudiar su rentabilidad en el sector turístico. Lanzarote tiene su punto fuerte en la cantidad de turistas que la visitan y el gasto total que dejan éstos en la isla, siendo muy superior al de Menorca. Por su parte, la isla menorquina, posee otras características, menos turísticas, que la diferencian notablemente de la isla canaria como es su menor tasa de paro y su nivel de vida. En cuanto a la aplicación práctica y el DAFO, se han recogido micro datos para lograr una eficiente y una eficaz comparación entre dos islas muy iguales pero a la vez muy diferentes, dando como resultado que Lanzarote es la isla con mayor rentabilidad turística de las dos.
