Abstract

For the purpose of chronologicaly locating the abundant pottery prehistoric repertoire of Gran Canaria, which could not be characterized neither from the stylistic point of view, nor from that of the stratigraphic sequences, the thermoluminescence dating method has been used in this project. This type ofanalysis, which in the last decades hasattested high levels of efficacy, can be adapted to the insular context, as the works of doctor Vicente Soler Javaloyes have proved. This paper deals with the factors of regulation of the method and their viability in the study of Gran Canaria’s prehistory.
