Relaciones bancarias y deuda en la empresa canaria

Abstract

La literatura sostiene que el efecto de las relaciones bancarias sobre la disponibilidad y condiciones de la deuda en las empresas va a depender en gran medida del peso relativo de las ventajas y desventajas que presenta el mantenimiento de una o más relaciones. El objetivo del presente estudio se centra en analizar las relaciones bancarias mantenidas por las empresas canarias, así como la incidencia de dichas relaciones en el nivel y estructura de la deuda, en particular la deuda bancaria. Los resultados obtenidos de una muestra de empresas canarias en el período 2006-2007, indican que las empresas analizadas mantienen relaciones con una media de dos entidades bancarias. Además, se observa una relación creciente entre el número de relaciones bancarias y el nivel de deuda total, así como de deuda bancaria y la deuda a largo plazo. Todo ello apunta a que las empresas amplían el número de relaciones como forma de aumentar la disponibilidad de recursos financieros.
