Abstract

Los tumores cardíacos interesan cada vez más almédico clínico y al cirujano. Se presenta una revisiónde los tumores cardíacos primitivos malignos,tumores secundarios y tumor carcinoide cardíaco,haciendo especial referencia a la anatomía patológicay a la cirugía. Los tumores primitivos malignosrepresentan alrededor del 25% de los tumores cardíacos;se clasifican en sarcomas, mesotelioma, linfoma,teratoma maligno y timoma. Se exponen deforma individual todas las variedades y los sarcomas,los más frecuentes, se desglosan en angiosarcoma,rabdomiosarcoma, fibrosarcoma, leiomiosarcoma,liposarcoma, sarcoma neurogénico, sarcomasinovial y osteosarcoma. Los tumores secundarioso metastásicos son unas 20-40 veces más frecuentesque los primarios, se citan sus vías de diseminacióny aspectos más importantes de la anatomíapatológica, diagnóstico y tratamiento. El tumorcarcinoide cardíaco aparece siempre en el seno deun síndrome carcinoide y como metástasis de uncarcinoide de otra localización, especialmente deaparato digestivo; dada su infrecuente observaciónclínica se expone de forma individual.

Heart neoplasms are of increasing interestamong clinicians and surgeons. A review of primarymalignant cardiac tumors, secondary cardiac tumorsand carcinoid heart tumors is presented, withspecial reference to their pathological and surgicalaspects. Primary malignant heart tumors representabout 25% of all cardiac tumors, the great majorityare sarcomas and the whole family of this group isdescribed including angiosarcoma, rhabdomyosarcoma,fibrosarcoma, leiomyosarcoma, liposarcoma,neurogenic sarcoma, synovial sarcoma and osteosarcoma;mesothelioma, lymphoma, malignant theratomaand thymoma are also included. Metastaticheart tumors are 20-40 times more common thanprimary malignancies, their behavior and more relevantaspects in diagnostic and surgical therapyare mentioned. Carcinoid heart tumors represent adistinctive entity and are discussed individually.
