Neurotaping en la sialorrea de niños con patología SNC

Abstract

En el control de babeo de niños con problemas neurológicos, el neurotaping es una técnica que se presenta como una alternativa prometedora y sin efectos secundarios en el control de la misma. El presente trabajo aborda la fisiología de la deglución, los mecanismos fisiopatológicos del babeo, su valoración y los distintos tratamientos que para ella se emplean. El ensayo clínico que presentamos se realizó con 12 niños en la Ciudad San Juan de Dios de las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Se les aplico diariamente una cinta de neurotaping bajo la barbilla y fueron valorados por los padres antes de iniciar el tratamiento, al mes y a los tres meses de iniciado el mismo con un cuestionario especifico para el babeo. Se obtuvo una mejoría significativa, en la frecuencia del babeo, severidad del babeo, cambio de babero, frecuencia en la limpieza de la baba y frecuencia en la limpieza de objetos. El estudio concluye que se observa evidencia de su utilidad, pero se necesitan más estudios comparativos, con mayor potencia estadística y con métodos de valoración más objetivos.
