The feeding habits and morphometric parameters of juveniles of chub mackerel (Scomber japonicus) were determined from 1839 individuals of 3.5 to 18.5 cm of total body length. In relation with the body growth: it was detected a descent in the growth pattern of the fish head over 13-15 cm of total length, and it can be related with an habitat change. The 20.4% of whole specimens with sizes between 13 to 18 cm of total lengthshowed otholits with anomalous zones before to the first annual ring. These characteristics show a great coincidence with a change in the proportion of fish in the diet of juveniles before and after 13 cm of total length.
