Nuestra investigación pretende contribuir a la fijación del concepto frontera marítima, analizando la percepción que los exploradores europeos tuvieron del Atlántico africano durante el siglo xv. Su título hace referencia a la relación dialéctica entre el imaginario de los protagonistas y las novedades a las que debieron enfrentarse.
This paper contributes to the concretization of the ‘maritime border’ concept, analysing the perceptions of European sailors towards the African Atlantic during the 15th century. The title refers to the dialectic relationship between the ‘imaginary’ of the explorers and the novelties they must have faced.
