Environmental enrichment in ruminants.

Authors: Reyes Llamas, Carla;

Environmental enrichment in ruminants.

Abstract

Environmental enrichment is a key concept that is part of animal welfare, although the reality is that it is not yet widely used in the livestock world to take advantage of the benefits that it can provide to the welfare and quality of life of animals, thus affecting production to maximize economic performance and offer quality products to the population. Farmers from the Canary Islands have participated in a survey to present different examples in which they have been able to reflect their level of information on the subject and, in the case of having tested it in their farms, the degree of conformity concerning how they have perceived that environmental enrichment affects productivity.
