Aproximación a la estimación de la fecundidad absoluta de Chaceon affinis (Geryonidae) en las Islas Canarias

Abstract

En el marco del proyecto REDECA, el presente estudio se centra en la biología reproductora del cangrejo rey Chaceon affinis. Siete campañas de mar con nasas específicas fueron realizadas en Gran Canaria y Tenerife ente 2006 y 2007. Se capturaron 1016 ejemplares de cangrejo rey, de los que 603 fueron machos y 413 hembras. De estas últimas, 76 fueron ovígeras, de las que se estudiaron 64. La longitud cefalotorácica de esta submuestra varió entre 84 y 155 mm. Su fecundidad se obtuvo por extrapolación a partir del recuento obtenido en submuestras de 0,5 g de carga ovígera. La fecundidad media obtenida fue de 375315 huevos, que no presentaron variación en tamaño entre los diferentes estados de desarrollo,
