In this present paper the minimum length at first maturity in six sparid species of interest to the fishing activity in the Canary Islands was determinet. The method consisted of two stages: First the determination of the spawning season ant then elaboration of maturity curve. The logistic function and the Gompertz's function were used, depending on the individual case, in the elaboration of maturity curves. The methodology was applied to 7872 specimens of Boops boops, Diplodus sargus cadenati, Diplodus vulgaris, Pagellus erythrinus, Pagrus pagrus and Spondyliosoma cantharus (Pisces, Sparidae).
