El artículo revela la participación del Imperio Ruso en las Exposiciones Universales entre 1851-1915. El período histórico examinado encaja en la perspectiva general de la Segunda Globalización y la expansión de la Revolución Industrial. El texto argumenta que las Exposiciones Universales, fruto de las políticas librecambistas, ejercían la función de la transferencia tecnológica entre los estados, contribuyendo a la teoría del desarrollo económico schumpeteriano. El Imperio Ruso, un país de la tercera velocidad de la Revolución Industrial, se apalancaba en la participación en las Exposiciones Universales, adoptando las innovaciones tecnológicas y directivas, además de fomentar la inversión extranjera. Consecuentemente, aceleraba el proceso industrializador, cambiando, de aquella forma, tanto la estructura exportadora como la variedad de sus bienes expuestos hacia mayor proporción de los bienes manufacturados.

The article reveals the participation of the Russian Empire in the World Exhibitions between 1851-1915. The examined historical period fits into the general perspective of the Second Globalization and the expansion of the Industrial Revolution. The text argues that the Universal Expositions, the result of free trade policies, exercised the function of technology transfer between states, contributing to the Schumpeterian theory of economic development. The Russian Empire, a country of the third speed of the Industrial Revolution, was leveraged in the participation in the Universal Expositions, adopting the technological and managerial innovations, in addition to encouraging foreign investment. Consequently, it accelerated the industrialization process, thus changing both the export structure and the variety of exposed goods to a greater proportion of manufactured products.
