This work explains the origin of the Biosphere Reserve distinction, its characteristics and objectives, as well as the necessary requirements to obtain it and subsequently maintain it. In addition, an economic and ecological comparison has been made between the islands of Lanzarote and Menorca, where similarities and differences can be observed. Finally, a SWOT is carried out where the opportunities and threats presented by the market environment where these tourist destinations compete, and the strengths and weaknesses that each one of them present, are analyzed.
En este trabajo se explica la procedencia de la distinción Reserva de la Biosfera, sus características y objetivos, así como los requisitos necesarios para obtenerla y posteriormente mantenerla. Además, se ha realizado una comparativa económica y ecológica entre las islas de Lanzarote y Menorca donde se pueden observar similitudes y diferencias. Por último, se realiza un DAFO donde se analizan las oportunidades y amenazas que presenta el entorno de mercado donde compiten estos destinos turísticos, y las fortalezas y debilidades que presentan cada uno de ellos.
