El movimiento estudiantil chileno

Abstract

El movimiento estudiantil chileno, contrario a lo que se podría pensar, no es un acto espontáneo sino es el resultado de la instauración de un modelo económico neoliberal impuesto durante el Régimen de Augusto Pinochet en concordancia con el rol de los estudiantes como actores centrales en los grandes procesos de cambio que ha sufrido Chile. Los estudiantes chilenos registran sus primeras actuaciones públicas a comienzos del siglo XX y se desenvuelven activamente a lo largo de todo ese siglo, con un periodo de ostracismo que comienza con la dictadura militar debido a la represión sufrida y termina luego de veinte años de gobierno de la Concertación cuando los estudiantes chilenos se organizan y salen a las calles a exigir el fin al lucro y una educación gratuita y de calidad. Dicho movimiento logra poner en jaque la efectividad del gobierno y desemboca en su institucionalización por medio de la elección de sus voceros como representantes en el Congreso
