"Anime" español para "otaku" japoneses

Abstract

"Gisaku" is an cartoon feature film promoted by the Spanish Society of International Expositions (SSIE) and produced by Castelao Films, part of Filmax group, to promote an attractive image of Spain at Expo Aichi 2005. With a fantastic plot that traces historical-affective bridges between the cultures that the international event demands to connect, Spain is presented with an air of modernity aimed to neutralizing the traditional image that the Japanese have of our country, according to some previous studies. A certain "anime" style is chosen to promote a more positive reception among Japanese viewers, who are the target of the film's aesthetic and promotional messages. Reconciling the fictional aspects of the storytelling with the institutional content established by the SSIE in half the usual production time was probably the biggest challenge faced by the creative team of "Gisaku".
