Consideraciones sobre el tránsito de Valencia hacia la ciudad global. Ciudades

Abstract

Las Ciencias Sociales hace ya algunas décadas que nos viene anunciando un nuevo paradigma que articula las relaciones sociales y económicas de manera distinta a la que lo hacían en el modelo del capitalismo convencional. Numerosa literatura, desde Touraine y Bell o Toffler en la década de los sesenta y setenta hasta las aportaciones más recientes de Castells, o Rifkin constatan, entre otras muchas cuestiones, la creciente importancia de las “dimensión simbólica” como atributo de los bienes, los territorios o de los propios grupos humanos. Lo que resulta relevante en este nuevo entorno, no son las características físicas o funcionales de las cosas/espacios/personas, sino sus significados.
