Abstract

Un libro de Habermas siempre es noticia. No en vano el pensamiento de Habermas representa hoy el conjunto de ideas más completo y coherente al que puede recurrir la izquierda en un momento de desazón ideológica. Pero éste era además un libro esperado. Cierra varios años de dedicación específica de Habermas a temas situados en la zona de solapamiento de teoría del derecho, filosofía del derecho, teoría filosófica de la justicia, teoría normativa de la democracia y sociología política. Además, al menos por su formato, Habermas parece haber pretendido con este libro una obra mayor. El libro tiene seiscientas sesenta y una páginas, que en la versión castellana, ya realizada y que espero que pueda aparecer pronto, se convertirán en algo más de setecientas. Se esperaba, pues, un libro importante y Habermas parece haberle dado el formato reservado a sus obras importantes. Lo primero que cabe entonces preguntarse es qué hay de ello.
