Fijador externo Stronger: estudio multicentrico

Abstract

In order to evaluate the Stronger® external fixator, a multicentric study has been carried out on 68 fixators in 66 patients. The nature of the lesion, the characteristics of the fixator assembly employed and the level of difficulty in placement, the radiographic consolidation until maturity of the bony callus, the influence of dynamization, the load time and the plurality of lesions and the complications, not only of the fixator but also of the lesion itself, have all been studied in depth. The radiographic results obtained show consolidation with mature callus in the 59 cases with complete evolution, and a total functional recuperation in 78%. No influence of dynamization has been observed in the callus formation. The results demonstrate that the Stronger® fixator allows good reduction, that it may be employed as a definite treatment, and that the fixation conditions and parallelism of the threated screws provide a low osteolysis index at its bony anchorage, only 6,7 %.
