Abstract

Kracauer fue un intelectual inclasificable, que siempre desconfió de los sistemas cerrados de pensamiento y de las fronteras infranqueables entre disciplinas, y al que Walter Benjamín imaginó «en la soledad de su oficio y su obra» como "un trapero, al amanecer: en la alborada del día de la revolución". Kracauer inició su carrera como crítico cinematográfico en los años veinte del siglo pasado y la concluyó cuarenta y cinco años después proponiendo puntos de contacto entre la función que la fotografía y el cine ejercen dentro de las formas de visibilidad moderna y los métodos empleados por la historia para explorar el tiempo pasado. Empezó, pues, hablando de cine y acabó hablando, también, de cine.
