Abstract

The figure of the Amazon, distinguished in the varius queens who appear throughout the literature since Greek times, is characterized by belonging to a gynecocratic state which breaks the social norms of ancient Greece and the Christian societies of Western Europe. Usually this inversion is punished by the autors with the death in combat, as in ancient times, or with the loving defeat that makes them participate willingly in the established patriarchal society. In any case, the point of view of the authors is diverse and also expresses admiration for the courage of these women of indomitable nature, a quality that makes them even more attractive to the eyes of the opposite sex
