Variabilidad e identidad taxonómica de la especie protegida y de interés económico Kosteletzkya pentacarpos (L.) Ledeb. (Malvaceae)

Abstract

Un ejemplar conservado en el Herbario MA (Real Jardín Botánico de Madrid) se designa como lectótipo de Kosteletzkya pentacarpos var. boscai Pau (Malvaceae). Esta variedad es aparentemente endémica de la Albufera de Valencia, de donde fue inicialmente recolectada por Eduardo Boscá en 1886. El rescate de esta variedad de la antigua literatura botánica incrementa la variabilidad reconocida hasta ahora para K. pentacarpos (L.) Ledeb. a nivel infraespecífico: var. boscai de Valencia, var. albiflorus Sacc. de Venecia, var. smilacifolia (Chapm.) S. M. Alexander de varios sitios de Norteamérica, y var. pentacarpos, aparentemente presente en todo el área de distribución (Norteamérica, Europa mediterránea y costas de la región del Cáucaso).
