La pluralidad cultural humana

Abstract

Se trata de un capítulo del libro Filosofía Social, en el que se analiza el problema de la diversidad cultural y la igualdad democrática. El enfoque inicial es el del debate contemporáneo entre universalismo, multiculturalismo y comunitarismo. Tras hacer referencia a la génesis del problema de la constitución de un “nosotros” aludiendo a las diferencias entre cultura y civilización, la autora se centra en precisar distintos enfoques epistemológicos, morales y políticos. La distinción entre el bien y lo justo; la universalidad y la eticidad así como el problema de la validez universal y el particularismo. También se precisan los múltiples significados de universalismo, relativismo, pluralismo, multiculturalismo. Delimita entre los problemas implicados: la inconmensurabilidad, la otredad, el diálogo intercultural. Los problemas del reconocimiento, la identidad y la autonomía. Finaliza con un estado actual de la cuestión abordando sucintamente las diferentes alternativas, liberalismo, ciudadanía multicultural, democracia deliberativa, etc.
