La "Historia Roderici" y su fecha de redacción

Abstract

Un códice escrito en letra de finales del siglo XII o principios del XIII contiene un texto interesantísimo para conocer la vida histórica de Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, el Cid Campeador. Una edición correcta la debemos a don Ramón Menéndez Pidal, así como el estudio de fuente tan importante para estudiar el siglo XI. La «Historia Roderici» habla de la vida militar del Cid en Castilla (1063-1079) , su primer destierro en el reino musulmán de Zaragoza (1080-1084), la sumisión del Levante (1089-1094) y los últimos años del héroe (1097-1099). Los detalles son amplísimos y constituyen la fuente única quizás para conocer la historia de las tierras de lo que más tarde integraría la Corona de Aragón.
