What is critical discourse analysis?

Abstract

El Análisis Crítico del Discurso (ACD) no posee un marco teórico o una metodología unitarios. Se considera como una perspectiva compartida que engloba una serie de enfoques en lugar de una 'escuela'. Históricamente, ACD es una evolución desde la Lingüística Crítica desarrollada a finales de los 70 por varios teóricos en la Universidad de East Anglia (Fowler et al. 1979; Kress & Hodge 1979), siguiendo la perspectiva funcionalista de Halliday (1978), pero ha sido también influenciado por otros teóricos críticos como Foucault, Gramsci, Pêcheux y Habermas. Según Halliday (1978), el lenguaje lleva a cabo tres macro-funciones de manera simultánea: la función ideacional (el lenguaje representa la experiencia que los habalantes tienen sobre el mundo), la función interpersonal (el lenguaje refleja la experiencia de las propias actitudes y evaluaciones de los hablantes y establece una relación entre hablante y oyente) y la función textual. En esta última, los hablantes producen textos que son comprendidos por los oyentes y, además, conectan el discurso con su contexto y su co-texto.
