Frutales de hueso y pepita

Abstract

Las siete especies frutales de zonas templadas consideradas (manzano, peral, melocotonero, ciruelo, albaricoquero, cerezo y almendro) pertenecen a la familia Rosaceae, el manzano al género Malus, el peral al Pyrus y las otras cinco al género Prunus. El manzano, el peral y el melocotonero, han sido tradicionalmente las tres especies de fruta dulce más importantes de España. En la última década se ha unido con particular relevancia el cerezo, seguido por el albaricoquero y el ciruelo. Estas seis especies ocupaban en 2017 una superficie de 205.177 ha. La producción media para el periodo 2015-2017 fue de 2.579.400 t anuales, lo que aportó en el año 2016 el 14,2% a la Producción Final Agraria (PFA). Considerando la Producción Final Agrícola, la fruta dulce ocupa el segundo lugar tras el sector hortícola con un valor estimado para el 2016 de 6.400.000 € anuales. La distribución de las superficies ocupadas por las diferentes especies en el año 2017 y de las producciones medias anuales correspondientes al 2015-2017 se exponen en la Figura 1, en donde se observa la predominancia del melocotonero, especialmente cuando se analizan las producciones. Le siguen en importancia el manzano, el peral, el cerezo, el albaricoquero y el ciruelo. El cerezo es después del melocotonero la especie que más ha incrementado superficie en las dos últimas décadas, situándose en tercer lugar después del manzano.
