La colección de zanahoria (Daucus carota) del Banco de Germoplasma Hortícola del CITA (BGHZ): caracterización y selección de la zanahoria morada del Maestrazgo (Teruel)

Abstract

El Banco de Germoplasma Hortícola del CITA (BGHZ) conserva una colección de 77 accesiones de zanahoria (Daucus carota) y 105 muestras de 9 especies silvestres relacionadas de Daucus. En este estudio sobre la diversidad de la colección del BGHZ, se caracterizaron 6 cultivares de zanahoria que diferían en su coloración. A partir de los resultados, se decidió seguir trabajando con una variedad de zanahoria morada procedente del Maestrazgo (Teruel) para la recuperación del cultivo orientada a ofrecer productos de calidad diferenciada. La variabilidad en el color de la raíz hizo necesario iniciar un proceso de selección para depurar la variedad. La muestra original tenía un 40,0% de raíces moradas. Se obtuvo semilla exclusivamente de las plantas seleccionadas por producir zanahorias del color morado característico de la variedad. Tras dos ciclos de selección, se alcanzó el 56,5% de raíces moradas. Los resultados indican el interés de continuar con la selección.
