El turismo de batallas: un turismo experiencial y sostenible

Abstract

Actualmente, uno de los retos del sector turístico reside en la diversificación y diferenciación de los destinos por medio del diseño e implementación de una oferta atractiva e innovadora basada en ofrecer al turista el disfrute de experiencias únicas e inolvidables, sin olvidar la necesaria sostenibilidad turística del destino. En este sentido, el dark tourism o turismo oscuro representa una modalidad turística que permite al turista vivir una experiencia impregnada de fuertes vinculaciones culturales y emocionales. El objetivo de este trabajo reside en clarificar el papel que el turismo oscuro, y particularmente el turismo de batallas supone para el desarrollo de un turismo sostenible y experiencial. Para ello, se expone su conceptualización, características y tipologías. Se procede a analizar el producto turístico denominado “Ruta de los Castillos y Batallas” ubicada en la provincia de Jaén (Andalucía, España) como modelo de promoción sostenible de los recursos turísticos presentes en este territorio y como marco para el fomento de un turismo experiencial basado en el turismo oscuro. Entre las conclusiones de esta investigación se desprende cómo el fomento del turismo oscuro en sus diferentes modalidades puede convertirse en un instrumento que permita revitalizar y diversificar los destinos a través del diseño de una oferta turístico experiencial.
