Abstract

A didactic experience for teaching plant biodiversity in two undergraduate courses is presented. We proposed the usage of evolutionary trees as a tool for relating the diagnostic plant features with their evolutionary history. The proposal was evaluated as positive by analysing the student’s answers in the exam and their opinion expressed in a semi-structured survey. This approach, updated and consistent with the work of specialist, contributes for reconciling the dissociation between teaching and research at this educational level.
