Abstract

Profesores de los Departamentos de Microbiología y Parasitología y de Ciencias de la Computación (Universidad de Alcalá, Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, España) han colaborado durante dos años en el análisis, diseño y desarrollo de un juego virtual educativo, entendido como un instrumento para mejorar la difusión de diversos conceptos relacionados con las Enfermedades Tropicales y la Salud Internacional en un entorno fácil y agradable. El juego está dirigido a estudiantes universitarios como herramienta de aprendizaje para apoyar esta enseñanza (bien como refuerzo, auto-evaluación¿) y/o con posibilidad de incorporarlo a una plataforma virtual. Durante este tiempo hemos trabajado tanto las cuestiones técnicas como las pedagógicas. El desarrollo del juego se ha realizado en un entorno científico, de modo que los contenidos se difundan a través de tecnología puntera, pero accesible. El diseño simula un juego de tablero con dado, casillas de avance, parada y retroceso con diferentes niveles de dificultad (baja, media y alta), y preguntas al azar que el jugador debe responder correctamente para avanzar. Los niveles de dificultad hacen que el juego se mantenga en límites desafiantes, pero no desesperantes. Al final del recorrido se recibe información útil sobre el tema del juego. Está diseñado para ser multi-usuario (hasta cuatro jugadores), bilingüe (inglés/español, con posibilidad de ampliar a otros idiomas) y dos opciones de aplicación: "stand-alone" e "Internet". El juego está siendo ampliado para su uso en móviles. La adaptación futura a las diferentes áreas de conocimiento (parasitología, historia, química, física, etc) sólo implica cambiar el interfaz de usuario y los criterios de selección de las preguntas.
