El artículo describe y documenta, utilizando fuentes legales y educativas, cómo se inicia la incorporación de maestras a la tarea de instruir a las niñas en las aulas en el periodo que va desde el último tercio del siglo XVIII hasta los inicios del siglo XX. Una trayectoria en la que van cambiando las características que debían reunir, los procedimientos de formación y de acceso, los contenidos de la enseñanza, y hasta el cómo ellas mismas entienden, definen y actúan en los contextos profesionales en los que se mueven.
The purpose of this article is to describe and document using legal and educational resources how women teachers begin to take up the task of educating schoolgirls in the classroom in the period from the last third of the eighteenth century to the beginning of the twentieth century. It is a path of changes in the characteristics of training and access procedures, of teaching contents, and also in the way women themselves understand, define and perform in their professional contexts.
