Abstract

La radiación UV puede producir grandes deterioros en el ojo, principalmente en el cristalino, debido a su alto contenido energético. Ante esto, el cristalino posee determinados mecanismos para minimizar los daños (Sale et al., 1992), los cuales requieren un aporte energético del que se encargan moléculas como el ATP o el NAD, es decir, los nucleótidos. El cristalino es una estructura con un gran consumo energético, puesto que no tiene vasos sanguíneos que le aporten los nutrientes necesarios y debe obtenerlospor transporte activo desde los humores vítreo y acuoso. Unido esto a su implicación en los procesos anteriores, todavía la alta concentración de nucleótidos encontrados no queda suficientemente justificada (Hardin et al., 1981). A través de un estudio espectrofotométrico y cromatográfico (H.P.L.C.), se han cuantificado los nucleótidos AMP, ADP Y ATp' presentes en el cristalino de peces teleósteos (Sparus aurata L. y Micropogonia furnieri D.), relacionándolos con el posible papel que desempeñan en la filtración directa de la radiación ultra violeta (UV).
