Abstract

ABSTARCT: This paper shows the methodology adopted to design a test bench for porous packed bed thermal regenerator –RTL-. The test bench here designed, supply a constant and stable set temperature. The test bench is dotted with a hot gasses line and a cold flow air line, which is conducted to the false RTL while the system is stabilized. When this condition is satisfied, the RTL is commuted and automatically the temperatures are registered. Experimental results let us obtain the real temperature distribution of a ten spheres packed bed. These results were used to validate a mathematical model of a similar regenerator.
