Abstract

RESUMEN: El presente texto se construye a manera de ensayo y tiene como interés principal desarrollar el tema de los procesos de transformación de la planeación y urbanismo local en la ciudad de Medellín, todo esto basado en el análisis de las características que se le fueron proporcionando en las últimas décadas al denominado Mejoramiento Integral de Barrios o MBI, el cual se define como componente primordial del discurso generado en torno al desarrollo social, urbano y político de la ciudad, permitiéndole intervenir las zonas de desarrollo informal y trascendiendo a un interés en la participación de las comunidades dentro de su propio desarrollo.

ABSTRACT: The main focus of the essay is to account for the change undergone by the Local State in the last two decades in the city of Medellin, in relation to its policy of Comprehensive Neighborhood Improvement (MBI), identifying their role in this process of urban transformation and discursive practices carried out in sectors categorized as informal development, with particular emphasis on what has been called the philosophy and practice of Social Planning.
