Polimorfismos de citoquinas en tuberculosis

Abstract

RESUMEN: Las citoquinas desempeñan un papel fundamental en la respuesta inmune antimicobacteriana, en el desarrollo de la enfermedad, el daño tisular, el tipo de enfermedad y los defectos inmunológicos asociados a la tuberculosis (TB). El IFNγ y el TNFα están asociados con la activación del macrófago y por lo tanto con aumento de la capacidad antimicobacteriana, mientras la IL-10 y el TGFβ tienen efectos opuestos, como citoquinas desactivadoras de los macrófagos. En pacientes con TB hay disminución de la producción de IFNγ por parte de los linfocitos en respuesta a antígenos icobacterianos e incremento en la producción de TGFβ e IL-10. Por muchos años se ha sospechado la influencia de factores genéticos en la resistencia/susceptibilidad a la tuberculosis (TB). Estudios recientes muestran que la producción de citoquinas está regulada genéticamente; polimorfismos, muchos de ellos localizados en las regiones promotoras, han sido reportados para TNFα, IFNγ, IL-10, IL-1βy TGFβ y se correlacionan con los niveles de producción de estas citoquinas. Por lo tanto esas variaciones genéticas podrían tener consecuencias funcionales y clínicas. Con este trabajo se pretende estudiar la asociación de polimorfismos en los genes que codifican para citoquinas y la resistencia/susceptibilidad a la tuberculosis, y así mismo con las diferentes formas clínicas de la enfermedad.
